PANIC ROOM

PANIC ROOM

(2015)

Logic has become a determinant of reality. Routines, spaces, the way people relate to each other… everything is impregnated with laws and norms accepted as absolute truths that define the individual. But there is also a mental universe, fed by the perception granted by the body and the senses, defined by personal maps and ideas, and freed from external impositions.

Dreams have been interpreted and validated as a representation of the world of wakefulness, but what would happen if they were the tool to invert the ode to reason? If, as in theater, it was possible to create spaces with an anarchic character that would allow to redefine the perception of our routines?

Occupying spaces of transit (non-spaces) with surreal photographies challenging power structures, this project seeks to generate a rupture in the daily life to generate a concern about the systems in which one is immersed and the value of individual mental reality.

Original concept and art direction: Camila Ivana Vargas Pardo.
